Kalabit (Poke)

"Natutulog na siya eh," I typed. I was pertaining to our mutual friend (MF) lying beside me. "Kalabitin mo lang magigising yan. hehe," he replied. I thought he meant for me to poke him to wake our friend up. "haha sorry gabi na kasi e," he added. Then I realized he wasn't just talking about a poke. *** We were three lying side by side on the bed. I was on the right, MF in the middle, and a girl friend on the left side of the bed. The phrase "kalabitin mo lang" lingered in my head as we are about to sleep. I was feeling lonely and alone being in a foreign land for about a month that I just wanted someone to cuddle with. Yes, boys and girls, I just wanted to cuddle. I've had a lot of experience on making advances on guys while sleeping. Highschool made me a pro at that. So, when I was sure that the coast was clear, and the girl on left side was facing the other way, I made my move. Pretending to be asleep, I turned to my le...

Race Time

Even before fun runs and marathons became a hit in this generation, our school had already been organizing races annually. One night, being part of the boyscout family, we were tasked to become marshals for the annual fun run. We were asked to stay overnight at school to prepare all the things needed for the race - water in plastics, straw markers, route markers, stage and other things. If you're a regular reader of this blog, you'll have a good idea what went on during our overnight stay. So here it goes. After all materials have been prepared and tasks for the race were already delegated, it was time to hit the sack. However at that time, we were not equipped with sleeping bags nor tents. So we settled with sleeping on top of disassembled pingpong tables on top of a dirty, muddy floor. There were around 7 or 8 of us squeezing in on two adjacent tables. I was next to a higher classman near the edge. This upper classman is a jovial person. There's not a bad...

Summer Training

We just came from a back-breaking, knee-shattering training. Alright, I'm just exaggerating  But it was really a tiring day full of drills and exercises. It was summer then and the heat didn't help in making our life easier that day. After dinner, we got settled in our bunk beds. All the double-deckers was filed side-by-side to accommodate more people. And since we were all guys there, there were no qualms in sleeping together. I decided to sleep on the top bed with another comrade. I never liked being in the bottom... bed, I mean. And yeah, in bed *wink*. As I was saying. I was on the top bed with someone in our team. He was on my left. On my right was someone from the other team, so never mind him. Going back to the story. I was always been curious with this teammate of mine. He was lean and slightly taller than me. Stories went around that he was gifted. He was even called Jake the Snake. And you know what they say about lean men: the leaner they are, t...

is-pah-kohl

SPAKOL - n. " haha. Tukso pa namin sa kanya na dun niya na lang kami ilibre. " Ba't ko naman kayo ililibre sa ganun?! " halakhakan na naman kami.  Aksheli, di iyun ang first time kong marinig yung term na yun. Narinig ko siya sa isa ko pang gurl na friend. Ishinare niya kasi noon na nagpupunta daw ...

Blame it on the alcohol (2)

Now, blame it on Gilbey's Gin & Red Horse Beer. We were at the beach then. There were six of us - 2 girls and 4 boys. We decided to pitch some tents by the sea and drink the night away. We were all set. We laid our picnic cloth and set-up our tents. We even brought with us sleeping bags in case we can't make it to our rest house. Chips were our pulutan. Our primary alcohol was gin and our chaser, beer. Sounds nasty? Yeah. It was. In just about an hour of drinking, we were feeling the buzz. Normally, I don't get drunk easily. Normally, I will be the one last standing. But this was no normal times. It was me who got the worst night. Feeling dizzy and tipsy. I invited my friends for a dip in the sea. I usually swim or take a bath whenever I wanted to regain control and rid of the buzz. But this time, it was not as effective as I expected.

Blame it on the alcohol

Specifically, Mojito and The Bar. I knew that we were in for a great vacation experience at Subic. It was just a spontaneous invitation from a coworker and that added up to the excitement. I was looking forward for that event then because (1) it would be my only summer vacation, and (2) I'll spend it with close friends, not to mention the exciting itinerary the host had for us. It was night time when we arrived. So after settling down, we went straight to our happy hours - drinking and magic sing. We are all looking forward to who gets to be wasted first. Since we are in a house we can just crash in at anytime. It was all laughter and noise when we already felt the buzz. I can still remember us having a question and answer portion since we were all intoxicated. As they say, in vino veritas - in wine there's truth. I guess I first felt the effect of alcohol when I was already sitting by the corner and just wanting to sleep. I guess I was so drunk that I just want to lie dow...
